Our first year in pictures
As we step into 2026, we’re pausing to look back at our very first year at Pier 11 Studio—best told in pictures.
We picked up the keys on New Year’s Eve, and from that moment, the year unfolded in the most beautiful way: art made, doors opened, classes filled, ArtWalk nights, community coming together and our first Astoria Open Studios Tour. Despite the challenges 2025 presented to us, we managed to stay the course of our visiton to bring art making to Pier 11. From the grand opening to an incredible lineup of workshops, and the production of Gabe & Elise’s solo shows in Seattle and engagement in Paris, it’s been a full and spectacular first year.
2025 also marked the reunion of the Wags & Pags wax collagraph printmaking duo, a special exchange with visiting artist Hugo Anaya, Elise’s host in Mexico, and a run of sold-out classes with Michelle Kaczmarcik, Jody Miller, Elise Wagner & Jane Pagliarulo (Wags & Pags). We’re thrilled that all of our instructors are returning in 2026, along with an expanded roster of visiting and local artists that brings our vision even further into focus.
As you move through this slideshow, you’ll see the moments that shaped our year—our grand opening party, hands at work, inked plates, shared meals, the many rainbows and breathtaking fleeting moments out of our windows, and the awesome creative community.
We are so thankful and grateful to our local community and friends near and far for helping us make Pier 11 Studio a place for creativity in Astoria, Oregon. Deep gratitude to our amazing instructors and to Hawthorne Media Group for our fresh new look. We’re heading off to the Mexico Printmaking Retreat now with Hugo Anaya, but we can’t wait to welcome you back and see what we create together in the year ahead. Thank you all!
