We Have a New Look!
We were going to wait to roll out our new look in the New Year but we just couldn’t!!
To celebrate our first year of offering classes and events, we decided we needed to depart from stock clip art design to something more bold that best reflects the abundance of our class offerings and creative life in Astoria.
Thank You Hawthorne Media Group
Thanks to Dave Sparks at Hawthorne Media Group, we got just what we had in mind. Art. Here. was revived from signage Elise would often put out for open studios to let people know they navigated to the right place. This, combined with our slogan “Because Art Keeps Going” combine nicely to form a message that creativity prevails no matter what, any time, anywhere.
2026 The Year of the Fire Horse
2026 is the year of the Fire Horse. Red is the color of abundance. What makes this year extra special is that the Horse is founder Elise’s Chinese Astrological sign. This year, she gets to turn 60 AND marry Gabe on Maui during her very own Year of the Fire Horse!
Huzzah!
But, we digress…more about that subject on Elise’s blog. As we gear up for the Holiday Season and fly off to the Mexico Printmaking Retreat immediately following, we wanted to share some of the many exciting things ahead in the New Year.
Beginning February 6, 2026, to celebrate our one year anniversary at Pier 11, we will launch our monthly Art Movie Night which will feature off the beaten path documentaries or biopics about artists every first Friday.
Art Movie night will be curated by the local creative community. Beginning on our first night, we will take suggestions from attendees for the movies they’d like to see in coming months. Bring a chair, your favorite beverage and a friend. We will begin with the film “Beyond the Invisible” about artist Hilma af Klint. We look forward to bringing the community together and invite all to engage in lively discussion after the movie.
Admission is $5. Seating is limited to 25.
Here are just a few of the workshops and instructors that we have on the schedule for 2026 so far!
