About Gabe Fernandez
Gabe was born in Caldwell, Idaho in 1971 and was raised in the logging community of Sweet Home, Oregon. Upon graduating High School in 1990, Gabe moved to Eugene, Oregon for a few years to pursue his passion for art at Lane Community College and University of Oregon until he moved to Portland, Oregon in 1995 and earned his BFA in Painting at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 1999.
Upon graduating PNCA, Gabe spent 14 years in social work at St. Mary’s Home for Boys as a counselor. While building his studio/gallery career, Gabe facilitated art programs regularly with the boys’ home.
Gabe has been practicing Photorealist Oil Painting with a focus on West Coast Pop culture in Mid-Century genres.
Gabe began showing with Guardino Gallery in 2002 and has since shown at several galleries on the west coast including Linda Hodges and Seattle Art Museum gallery in Seattle, WA., Schomburg Gallery in Santa Monica, CA, Woodman/Shimko in Palm Springs, CA.
Gabe’s work is in several private collections worldwide and is in a few public collections as well.
Gabe currently shows with Patricia Rovzar Gallery in Seattle, WA and Russo Lee Gallery in Portland, OR.
Gabe just recently relocated his residence and studio practice to Astoria, Oregon.
