Photo Encaustic Workshop

Dates: Saturday, September 20 , 2- 5pm – Sunday, September 21
, 9 – 5 pm

This two-day workshop will help you make your photographs into one-of-a-kind works using encaustic wax medium.

On day one of this two-day workshop, we will meet and discuss the various techniques involved, and I will show a few examples of my own photo encaustic work. We will glue our prints onto 3/4” cradled boards and let them dry overnight before starting to treat them the next day.

On day two, we will spend the entire day treating our photographs, using the wax medium to create depth, fabrics to create texture, and oil colors to add a final finishing touch to our images.

You’ll need to provide one 8”x 8” photograph printed on MATTE finish inkjet paper (image size 8×8 with no border).

Keep in mind that the finished piece, if it has oil based paint on it, will still be wet (tacky) when finished so bring a container to take it home in. It takes about 2-3 weeks for the oil paint to completely dry.

Class size will be limited to 8 participants, with four workstations being shared by 2 people each using one hot plate and one heat gun.

The cost for the workshop is $299, LightBox Members: $249 with all materials provided!
