About Ben Killen Rosenberg
Ben lives in Manzanita, Oregon, and works as an Adjunct Professor for Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, where he teaches art classes online. He also teaches Printmaking at Clatsop Community College in Astoria and regularly substitutes in the Neahkahnie School District, covering a range of subjects including gym, art, math, and woodshop.
He holds a BFA in Printmaking from Temple University and an MFA in Studio Arts from Portland State University. His illustration work—primarily monotypes hand-colored with watercolor and gouache—has appeared in publications such as The Portland Tribune, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Oregonian, and Willamette Week, and for clients including Johns Hopkins University and Hewlett-Packard. His current practice spans drawing, painting, ceramics, and assemblage.
In addition to his studio work, he has collaborated both solo and with his parents on public art sculptures and murals across the East Coast and Pacific Northwest, using materials such as mosaics, concrete, ceramics, and found objects.
Currently, he shares a ceramics studio at Nehalem Bay Pottery. His work is included in numerous private and public collections and has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at Augen and Froelick Galleries in Portland, as well as in South Korea and Italy.
He is also the proud owner of a one-year-old miniature dapple dachshund named Nina Kahnie, who was born at Babeside Gardens.

Collage Monotypes with Ben Rosenberg
This class will introduce you to the technique of collage monotypes using textured materials, leaves, and cut patterns. These prints will introduce you to the process of creating interesting and compelling printed images on a printmaking press.
You will learn how to use a printmaking press, work with ink using rollers and brushes, prepare paper, and create a suite including ghost prints.
We will be printing on various provided printmaking papers, and more. Students will leave with an understanding of various techniques overlapping painted marks, and textural surfaces to create an understanding of monotypes and monoprints.
No experience required in drawing, or printmaking. This is open to everyone of any or none experience in the arts. Your willingness to learn and surprise yourself of the unexpected that can happen visually in this process is the gift you are giving yourself. This is a beginner friendly, hands-on studio workshop in a beautiful studio setting overlooking the Columbia river! Simply bring your enthusiasm!
