with Tallmadge Doyle

Transform Drawing Ideas Into Printmaking

We will combine Chine Colle with drypoint to add another layer of depth and interest. Chine Colle is a technique using Asian papers with wheat paste to simultaneously print and paste the cotton base sheet of paper with Gampi paper on the etching press.

This is a fast paced workshop where participants are encouraged to bring drawing ideas to experiment with. Many examples of drypoint and chine colle prints will be shown as examples to show the range of possibilities for these simple but versatile techniques.

Experience is welcome but not needed. All levels will be challenged.

About Tallmadge

Tallmadge Doyle’s artistic journey is marked by a commitment to exploring the intersections of traditional printmaking, painting, and permanent public art installations. With a distinctive style, she fuses mediums like India Ink, dry pigment, graphite, watercolor, and collage, creating intricate layers of biological forms. Her academic pursuit continued at the University of Oregon, where she earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) while specializing in traditional printmaking techniques. After graduation, Doyle joined the faculty as an adjunct professor, teaching drawing and printmaking for 15 years. Now, she divides her time between Cascade Head and Eugene, Oregon, where she continues to create and teach.

Doyle’s work has earned widespread recognition, with over 250 exhibitions across the United States and internationally. Her art has found a permanent place in more than 30 public collections, both in the U.S. and abroad, underscoring her global impact.
